Hi, In Case We Haven’t Properly Met
Hi there,
I’ve noticed a bunch of new faces (I mean clicks) around here lately — so hi and welcome!
If you’ve subscribed to my email, you may have already gotten an intro email or some information about who I am and what I do. In case you haven’t: subscribe here. Otherwise, I just wanted to take a minute to actually introduce (or re-introduce) myself, instead of just diving in like you already know me.
I’m Heidi. By day (or night, depending on my shift), I’m an emergency medicine physician. By, well, every other hour of the day, I’m a mom figuring out the same thing most of you are: how to build a life that doesn’t feel like it’s constantly running on fumes.
A few years ago, I got tired of the “just push through it” advice that’s aimed at working moms — the idea that burnout is just the cost of doing everything. And guilt is just part of being a mom. So after a coach got me through a tough time, I became a certified coach, and I built something called the ALIGN Method: a way to audit your time, understand your energy, decide what actually deserves a yes, design a week (month/ year/ decade) that fits your real life, and build something sustainable. I wanted to build something that feels like thriving, not surviving — for me, and for YOU, too.
The short version of everything I believe: you CAN do it all. Just maybe not all at once. And you don’t need to carry all the societal guilt, shame, or anxiety that often surrounds working moms.
That’s it. That’s the whole philosophy, really. Everything else is just the how.
Here’s what you can expect from me on this blog (and in your inbox, if you’re subscribed): real stories — mine usually, some involving my kids, some involving clients (with permission), some involving a very honest look at my own habits — practical tools you can actually use this week, and zero guilt-trip energy. I’m not here to add to your list. I’m here to help you shorten it.
If you want a place to start, this is the one I’d point you to: The 3-Day Time Audit — it’s the first step in the ALIGN Method, and it’s the thing almost every client tells me they wish they’d done sooner.
And one small ask: drop a comment below and tell me one thing you’re hoping to get more of from this blog. I read every single one — and it genuinely helps me know I’m writing to real people, not just sending into the void.
Glad you’re here.
Heidi
P.S. If you want the fuller picture of the ALIGN Method before diving into any one piece, this post is a good overview to start with.
