I promise to keep it shorter this week.
Unintentional results (especially the negative results) are the things we have in our life that we think somehow have ‘just happened’ to us. Occasionally, it might the good stuff or the lucky thing that happened, but it’s often the bad stuff that just happened “to us” that leaves us profoundly disempowered, frustrated, etc.
Whether it’s weight, a relationship, or a job: when we take a step back, we can see how we contribute to our current results.
And the big question comes: What if you want something different?
Remember the Model: Circumstances–> Thoughts–> Feelings–> Actions–> Results
First, let’s get clear about our desired result. More importantly, get clear about your WHY!Why do you want to lose weight? Why do you want a different partner or job? Remember, you don’t have to change the circumstance to feel better or get different results. This involves changing your thinking.
You, of course, are welcomed to change your weight, job or partner… but notice your mind.
That’s where the power is.
When change comes from an empowered, confident, calm, or inspired place— AND is aligned with your core values and strengths: you can create incredible results! These are INTENTIONAL results. You have chosen to intentionally build them from specific actions, which have been generated from feelings, which come from our thoughts.
So, the next question that naturally arises:
What result do you want in your life right now?
If your brain tells you it’s impossible or gives you 100 reasons it can’t happen, let’s get to work on it! Coaching can help you question all the sneaky ways your brain tries to hold you back. It can help you clarify where you are and where you want to go. It can walk you through the roadblocks to help you create the life you intentionally want.
So you may ask: what’s with the cake above? This was what intentional results looked like for me this past weekend. My daughter turned six, and I have loved making my kids’ cakes for birthday parties. I love baking and the creativity that can come from it. Of course, this year she wanted a six layer Neapolitan cake with strawberry frosting and a space theme 😉 So we experimented, and I needed to intentionally let go of some of the control. I had to pause when I wanted to take over, and remind myself of the joy that came from the process, for both of us. This cake was a labor of love and connection, and that was truly the sweetest part. To the moon and back: I love this little girl.
