The inspiration came from Happier Hour by Cassie Holmes, PhD. She has researched the relationship between the amount of discretionary time people have in their daily lives and their overall happiness. She found between 2-5 hours a day was the area of peak happiness.
There’s data and there’s real life to support this. I think most working moms know this deep in our bones. We just don’t know the how. She’s teaching classes at UCLA to MBA students. I’m here for all you working moms. Because enough is enough; we can quit taking care of everyone else at our own expense. If your cup is empty, you know what I mean.
Holmes asserts being “time poor” makes us more depressed, stressed and emotionally exhausted. On the contrary, there’s data that shows that having adequate free time results in decrease overwhelm and more fulfillment—allowing you to thrive personally and professionally. A few years ago, I got really sick of feeling like I had no time. I felt like I was juggling fire balls while running on a hamster wheel. I was stressed and exhausted with no time for regular exercise, nourishing food, friends, family, or ME! If this sounds like you, you are not alone.
