Who Am I Now?
Embracing Your Evolving Identity in 2026
I’ve been sitting with this powerful question from psychologist Susan David lately: “Who am I now?”
Maybe you’ve been through big life changes this past year. Or maybe it’s been a thousand small shifts that have quietly transformed you. I’ve been reflecting on an email from Susan David (author of Emotional Agility) about embracing an evolving identity. In her newsletter, she writes: “Do yourself the favor of recognizing that the “you” right now isn’t the same “you” from years past.”
And that’s not just okay – it’s necessary.
She elaborated:“Our identities are not static. They are ever-changing, always subject to revision and renegotiation… You are not bound by your old stories about who you are or what you want. Identities that once seemed integral to your sense of self may no longer feel important…Seasons change. People evolve. It’s scary, but it’s also exhilarating and necessary.”
The Website Launch That Sparked This Question
This idea has been on my mind because I’m evolving, too. Perhaps you’ve noticed– I just launched a completely redesigned website that better reflects who I am NOW (as a coach, a mom, a physician) and how I help working moms create freedom, especially around their time.
As you explore the new site, I want you to ask yourself the same question I’ve been asking:
Who am I now? And who do I want to be in 2026?
Not who you “should” be or who you thought you’d be at this stage. Not who you were five years ago. Not who everyone else expects you to be.
Who do YOU want to be now?
Because here’s the truth: you’re allowed to evolve.
You’re allowed to want different things than you used to.
You’re allowed to let go of old identities that no longer serve you – even the ones that once felt essential to who you are.
You’re allowed to say: “That was me then. This is me now.”
When Your Schedule Doesn’t Reflect Your Priorities: A Real Story
Here’s where it gets powerful:
Knowing who you want to be is one thing. Actually designing your life to align with that vision? That’s where the real transformation happens.
The Physician Who Discovered Her Misalignment
I recently worked with a physician client who was burning out. When we dug into her core values, we discovered that CONNECTION is at the heart of who she is (and likely why her patients love her)! But her office was overbooking patients – which meant she was rushing through appointments, never had time for meaningful conversation, and went home feeling depleted instead of fulfilled.
The problem wasn’t “too much work.” The problem was that her daily reality was completely misaligned with what mattered most to her.
Once she could articulate this – once she could say “I value connection, and this schedule makes that impossible” – everything shifted. She saw it differently, and so did her office administration. They weren’t just being asked to reduce her patient load; they were being asked to honor the very thing that made her an exceptional physician.
That’s the power of values-based decision making—and honoring who you are and what you bring to the world!
The Power of Values-Based Decision Making
When you’re clear on your values, everything changes:
- “I’m overwhelmed” becomes “My schedule doesn’t reflect my priorities”
- “I feel guilty saying no” becomes “I’m protecting what matters most”(Cue fierce mama bear mode!)
- “I never have time for myself” becomes “I’m making myself non-negotiable”
What This Looks Like in Practice
This is exactly the work we do in the ALIGN Method – getting crystal clear on what truly matters to YOU, then intentionally designing your life around those values instead of everyone else’s expectations.
The ALIGN Method: Your Framework for Intentional Living
The new website includes:
- A clearer picture of the ALIGN Method and how it works
- Information about the 8-week Time Freedom Course
- Easy new ways to sign up for my newsletter!
- An easier way to book your free consultation
Take a look around. See if it resonates with where you are NOW and where you want to go.
(Of course– Like all new things, I’m still working to fix a few glitches/ links—so if you stumble upon any—let me know!)
