Make a list of new thoughts you want to practice thinking every day.
Bonus: record them and listen to them regularly.
Want to borrow some of my favorites I looked at during my Coaching Certification program?
Everything happens right on time
Love is always an option
People are allowed to behave the way they want—we are allowed to react the way we want
It’s not what we do—it’s who we are
There’s nothing wrong with you
You are enough
The world longs for what you have to offer
Everything you do is a choice
Hard work feels amazing
Part of the certification program had an amazing list of 50+ random thoughts, and I found them really helpful and kind of refreshing. It’s interesting what your own brain likes to play on repeat.
This is only a handful — hoping you can pick your favorites and start to rework or recycle them. It’s amazing the transformation that can happen when we read these, let alone speak them to ourselves regularly and then genuinely believe them! I had a few ‘ooooh and ah’ moments myself.
I was listening to a podcast recently and am going to try delivering more bite-sized pieces to give clients time to digest and implement. Without trying and implementation, nothing gets re-wired. What wires together, fires together… so try some out! Think of it like a new pair of jeans; put them on, dance a little, do a squat, see if you bust a seam… How do you feel? Then watch what unfolds: What actions do you take and what results do you have when you think and feel this way? Try it for a week and see what happens.Remember, true lasting transformation comes from belief. What’s standing in the way of you believing these new thoughts?
One of my favorite transformations from this past year was ditching the “I’m not good enough” mantra. I held that one like a True fact, somehow it seemed as provable as my birthdate. It seemed to be a default setting, especially when I screwed up or failed. I read “you are good enough” and paused. I had to ask myself; holy $h*t: what if that was my default thinking? I wanted to vomit and celebrate at the same time. I realized how much time and energy I have wasted going down this useless tunnel buying into a “you’re not good enough” mindset, when in reality that is a completely optional thought. Maybe I’m not good enough to dunk a basketball, but that’s not usually when my mind offers me that thought. And it was that kind of default thinking that was really crushing my spirit. Maybe that’s a sentence your brain offers, too? Come learn the tools to ditch it. Does my brain offer it still: sure. But now I spot it, question it quickly and don’t stew in it.
I really could go on and on: I love this stuff. Hope you can join me in one of our sessions soon!
